Motherhood is Not Glamorous

As I sit here typing with a stinky dog at my feet who desperately needs a bath and her summer shave, I realize how life has become beautifully imperfect.

There's a stain from Cheeto covered fingers on my favorite couch blanket.
A towel that's stuffed under our leaking freezer door to prevent my son from slipping on melted ice water.
Toys litter my backyard covered in dew and who knows what else.
Birds tweet their disapproval of me not feeding them because well I just haven't made it to Wal-Mart this week to refill their feeders.
My son woke me up at 5:45AM with a sweet apology for waking me up, to which I replied "I wouldn't want to wake up to anybody else sweetheart."
Dishes fill my sink from dinner two nights ago.
My trash is overflowing since tomorrow is trash day, I'll get to it eventually...
The playroom for once has been vacuumed, however if one room is clean another is dirty and that pile of laundry on our bedroom bench is calling my name. Again.

My life is simple.
Messy.
Beautiful.
