A Christmas Letter

Dearest Reader,

As I sat there writing Christmas card after Christmas card a thought occurred to me. I'm leaving one of my dearest friends out... you!!! Since I can't write a letter to each one of you, some have come from far away and read in secret, others visit who know me in real life, and still others write comments and respond to me through social media with their support and love.

Throughout this past year, I'm not sure what led you to visit Southern Hope. Are you a woman aching for a baby after a loss? Are you a  new mom struggling with her newborn who won't nurse? Are you battling a chronic illness or infertility? Did you come here for a recipe? And most of all, did you visit this space over the past year because you were in need of a good laugh?
I sure hope so dear reader.
If you have found yourself in one or many of these circumstances, I have some words to share with you this Christmas. 2016 is your year! It is a chance to renew, if you are stuck in a situation leaving you fearful or full of doubt... if you are wrapped up with guilt or shame... if you are aching over the loss of a loved one...

"I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world." John 16:33 NIV

We have seen evil in our world this past year. I don't want to bring the mood down here, but man... we have seen some terrible events happen just in the past 6 months. However, I know peace, I have found peace. My peace lies in the good news of Jesus Christ, knowing He can overcome all evil, knowing He can make it right in our world, knowing He can make up the difference. There is a God in heaven who adores you even down to all those flaws you have made up in your head. God fasted from heaven for 33 years to come here and pay the price for our sin. Heaven in all its amazing glory and beauty, He left it so that we may know His love, His love for us.
There is unfailing love awaiting you both in heaven and on earth with fellow believers. Only Christ can heal you, only His words can be a balm for your aching heart. No matter your circumstances, by accepting Christ, God comes into your heart and sews up all those lost threads, He heals you from the inside so you can walk in His name and in His glory on the outside.
Accept Him.
Accept Peace.
and watch the world change....
