Vacation Recap

I'm sitting here trying to figure out what to write about our trip to Washington D.C. last week. I don't have millions of pictures to share, because I lived in the moment. I rarely whipped out my phone and when I did it was to take a picture of a moment between my son and his family. D.C. holds a special place in my heart. I remember when my aunt bought a sweet vacation package for my parents and while they were gone I stayed with my grandparents in Florida. I had SO much fun with them that I cried practically the entire trip home (6 hours). But I remember all the fun stories my parents shared of their trip and several years later we all went together again as a family. We biked all over the town, camped, and visited Mt. Vernon. Then again in middle school I visited that great city with my 8th grade class. It was a wonderful trip to learn social skills while traveling with classmates. Memories were made that I'll always cherish. Then many years later, my husband I were sealed in the Washington D.C. Temple. Our marriage ceremony was short and sweet, but full of love. We had dinner at the Cheesecake Factory and then toured a couple of museums on our "free" honeymoon (D.C. is a fantastic honeymoon location, most attractions are free!).

And now there I was again, looking up at the beautiful Washington Monument. This time with my son behind me in the bike carrier, my husband, mother, and father on bikes beside me. We biked it all over again, learned new places to visit, ate great food, and enjoyed one another's company.

We LOVE you D.C., thanks for being such a gracious host!!
