100 Years of FHE

100 years ago on this day Family Home Evening was created. For those of you not of our faith, Family Home Evening (FHE) is one evening each week set aside for families to have a song, scripture, lesson, and a treat! To read what past church leaders have said about FHE click HERE

I am celebrating this anniversary with several other LDS bloggers. We have tons of great FHE activity ideas to share. Check out the links below to find more!

We'll Ascend Together FHE Lesson

pens
balloons

Scripture:
2 Nephi 2:27 " 27 Wherefore, men are free according to the flesh; and allthings are given them which are expedient unto man. And they are free to choose liberty and eternal life, through the great Mediator of all men, or to choose captivity and death, according to the captivity and power of the devil; for he seeketh that all men might be miserable like unto himself.

Lesson/Activity:

Before FHE, prayerfully clip out sections of Sister Burton's talk, We'll Ascend Together, you feel would best suit the needs of your family. Hand out the sections with a couple of blank strips of paper to each family member. As each member reads a section of the talk aloud, have family members write down what they feel would help each other "ascend" together. How could they lift their family members up each day? What words or actions would help lift another's burden?

When they are finished reading the talk, have them place the strips of paper inside the balloons and blow them up. When everybody is finished, go outside and release the balloons and watch them ascend into the sky together!

Close by sharing your testimony.

Ask a family member to give the closing prayer.

Have a treat!!

Visit these other bloggers to find more great family home evening lessons based on a talk from the April 2015 General Conference! Be sure to leave them comments thanking them for their hard work in putting the lessons together.
