Foodie Friday: Slap Yo Mama Chili

You'll need:

2lbs hamburger meat

1 med onion (chopped)

powdered Chili mix - can be hot, medium mild your preference
2 16oz cans Bush's Chili beans (has to be this brand!) hot, medium, mild again your preference
1 29oz can tomato sauce (if you like chunky tomatoes in your chili, use the large can crushed tomatoes)
1 12oz can V-8 vegetable juice
(optional-can add a can of drained and rinsed black beans or if chili is too thick can add can of tomato soup)

What to do with it all:

Brown hamburger meat with the chopped onion, drain off all grease. Add all other ingredients to a large soup pot, add meat and stir well. Let simmer for 20 mins or so, stirring frequently.

If you'd like to make your own chili seasoning here is a basic recipe:

You'll need:
Chili Seasoning Mix Ingredients:

4 Tbs. chili powder
2 Tbs. flour
2 Tbs. ground cumin
1 Tbs. garlic powder
1 Tbs. onion powder
1 Tbs. granulated sugar
2 tsp. paprika
1 tsp. black pepper
1 tsp. sea salt
1 tsp. crushed red pepper flakes
1 tsp. cayenne pepper
1 tsp. dried oregano
1 tsp. dried parsley

What to do with it all:

In a medium bowl, combine all ingredients and mix well. Store the seasoning mix in an air-tight container for up to one year.
For use in chili, use about 2 1/2 tablespoons of the above mixture in a recipe that calls for one packet of chili seasoning; adjust to your taste.

Here's my bowl from the other day. My mom mentioned I needed to "wipe the sides off" so that it looked like a photo from FoodNetwork...
ain't nobody got time for that!
Hope y'all enjoy!
