Look at me! Look at me! I was asked to do a tour through blogland. I'm so excited the lovely Melissa at Rambling Llama asked me to continue the tour. Melissa and I have become quick blogging buddies through the Mamas Tell All linkup. She's so friendly and so easy to love!
Here are the tour questions:
What are you working on now?
Oh goodness, so much stuff is coming up this November. I'm in two book clubs, one with a close friend of mine in Utah and I can't wait to share with y'all our thoughts on The Bell Jar! I finished it Friday so look for that review soon. I'm also checking out Kelly's Blogger to Blogger Book club, this month's book is Beautiful Ruins. I'm also doing Chelsey's Gratitude Challenge, Jess' Blogger Book Swap, and Bailey Jean's Merry and Bright Gift Swap. Also!! I'm reviewing a dress I received from Eshatki, have a couple new Our Southern Adventures to share, a Liebster Award, a 5K, and our Young Women's in Excellence party posts coming y'alls way!Blogging goals: Hosting two giveaways to increase my Bloglovin' numbers. Hope to have sponsorships available sometime next year!
How does your work differ from others in it's genre?
I definitely fall into the lifestyle category. I write when I get a creative feeling about absolutely anything! I blog because I want to make a difference in the online community. I want to share the good, but also the real, not just the happy and perfect times, but the really messed up ones too. I'm a blogger because I love getting emails saying how much a post meant to some one in need, how they needed those words at that exact moment. Or maybe it just gave them a good laugh! I I blog for the connection to others and to be able to express myself without judgement. And let's be honest, my family is just sick and tired of hearing me preach at them!
Why do you write / create what you do?
I started blogging years ago as a sophomore in college. I was attending BYU and wanted a way to share photos and stories with my family back home in Georgia. Blogging opened up a huge creative spirit that I had yet to unlock, I've loved it ever since! I like to think that when readers visit Southern Hope they feel like they are coming home, a comfortable uplifting environment. And when they leave this page I want them to be optimistic about their futures. I want to be the voice in their head saying "go for it, you can do it!" And if I can get just one person to smile each day, then my job is done! (yes I'm serious as corny as that sounds)
How does your writing / creative process work?
Hmmm this is a tough one. I have so many thoughts for posts that pop into my head throughout the day. I either write them on a note in my purse, make a voice recording, or write it on my iPad mini reminder lists. When I really get fired up I just log onto blogger and start writing! There is no real process! If I'm having writer's block, I will touch up old posts or go to Pinterest for writer's prompts.
Next stop on your Tour Through Blogland is my new book loving friend, Suzanna at One Hoolie Mama. We were paired for a holiday book swap and I'm excited to send her my book recommendation this November.
