Our Hike at Fires Creek

On our way back from our July 4th vacation we headed to Fires Creek located in the Nantahala National Forest in North Carolina. I thought it would be fun to break up our road trip. The great outdoors, ahhhhh I love it, especially in such a beautiful part of the country. We drove a different route than usual to my aunt's house and found it to be much more scenic.

Here's a shot from our drive:

The mountains are callin'!

This was the view from the parking lot, can you believe it?!
Our hike included a waterfall, creeks, and wildlife. I love getting outdoors with The Big Dawg. It's an activity we enjoy together than we can now pass down to Little Monkey. Before I took this picture, I was actually yelling at him to get away from the huge slippery rock. He wanted to look into that cave (see the dark spot he is staring into) and I was freaking out about our baby being strapped to him. I decided it was a great opportunity for a cute picture of little man with his dad. Then I told him to get his butt back on solid ground with my baby!!
Entrance to the various hiking trials.
 This is my happy place.

The Big Dawg and I have a mini collection of rocks from various places we have hiked together. Our first rock was found in Tennessee when we were dating. Since then I have started finding a smooth pretty rock everywhere we hike.

I'd love to hear about some of your outside adventures!
