Wonderful Wednesday: Prayer

“Prayer is not asking. It is a longing of the soul. It is daily admission of one's weakness. It is better in prayer to have a heart without words than words without a heart.”
Mahatma Gandhi

“I pray because I can't help myself. I pray because I'm helpless. I pray because the need flows out of me all the time- waking and sleeping. It doesn't change God- it changes me.”
William Nicholson

Prayer has almost become a foreign word to me in the past months. I've always had a "prayer in my heart". In our church we believe a sincere prayer should be said on our knees, with silence around us (tvs, music, off), heads bowed, arms folded. This is to create a reverant spirit, one able to listen to any promptings or comforts felt through the prayer.  It's been a while since I gave a sincere prayer, well until this morning, this morning was a new day for me.

Prayers become harder when they feel unanswered. But in the past two years of R and I trying to have this miracle of a baby, through the mulitple doctors visits per month, the medical bills, the invasive procedures, I am finally feeling like we are on a good, strong path. We have new doctors who are just as Type A as I am, it is a good combination. Were we lead to them by the Lord's hand? Was it because of our prayers, and those said by friends when we were too sad to do it ourselves?
I would like to think so. I would like to think that all of it is for something and that our time isn't being wasted, that somehow there is a much bigger plan.

Prayer isn't always about what we feel is best for us, it's about gaining comfort during a really horrible trial. Sometimes just being able to express our deepest feelings can make all the difference. Whether those prayers will be in line with God's will, nobody can be sure of that, but He does have the best plan in store for us.

*Why the hill? I love the feeling of an uphill climb, making it to the top and finding there was so much more to be enjoyed than what we were able to see at the bottom.*

Heavenly Father already knows the intent and desires of our heart and He knows our thoughts. So, why pray? I think it shows submissiveness, meekness, humility in bowing to the creator...

Good luck with the fertility treatments. :)

This is so powerful. Continue to mediate and pray he knows what is best and will lead you to it.
